A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed Story for 9th and First Year

Story for Average Students:

Title: The Selfish Friend

Two friends embarked on a journey, promising to support each other no matter what. While passing through a jungle, they encountered a formidable bear. One friend, driven by selfishness, swiftly climbed a tree, abandoning his companion. The other, unable to climb, recalled advice: bears don’t eat the dead. He lay still, holding his breath. The bear approached, sniffed, and left, convinced he was lifeless.

The selfish friend descended, mockingly asking, “What did the bear say to you?” His companion responded, “The bear warned me about trusting a selfish friend.” With those words, he bid farewell and walked away alone.

Moral:

  1. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
  2. Fair-weather friends are unreliable.

Title: The Wise Ruse

In a village, two friends set out for the town, one clever yet selfish, the other, innocent and honest. They pledged mutual support on their journey.

In a dense forest, they encountered a bear. The clever friend, thinking only of himself, scrambled up a tree, leaving his companion defenseless. The honest friend, unfamiliar with climbing, had a clever idea. He lay on the ground, breath held, feigning death. The bear, sniffing around, believed him lifeless and departed into the forest.

After the bear left, the clever friend descended and inquired, “What did the bear whisper?” The friend, quick-witted, replied, “The bear cautioned against trusting fair-weather friends.” With that, he bid farewell and continued alone.

Moral:

  1. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
